The time has come to welcome a new group to the honored ranks of indie developers. First-time developer Markan Saha has released a new action-puzzler, Guardian Cherubs, for the iPad and iPhone. And it’s completely free, with no ads and no in-app purchases, so you may as well read on and check it out.

In Guardian Cherubs, you will control a unit of hand-picked Cherubs in each level as you attempt to protect your planet, and its squirrels, from some nasty invaders. Each Cherub possess a specific skill-set which will make it most effective at handling a particular type of task the game may put forward; choose wisely. To hint at said tasks, the game’s plot suggests that as a Cherub, you have been charged with the task of protecting the aforementioned squirrels while they prepare their stores for winter. Though your focus may fall on the squirrels, other, more unsavory creatures are also preparing their stores and stomachs for the desolate winter to come. Even the forces of winter themselves may rain down and threaten the lives of your fuzzy woodland therefore as the guardian of the woodlands’ fuzziest creatures, you must remain vigilant! Gameplay is fairly simple, so it should make an excellent pick-up-and-play game. And again, it’s completely free, so why not give it a chance?

If you’d like to see more information on it, you can check its official site or iTunes page before you decide whether or not to indulge in some Cherub-themed action.

Guardian Cherubs debuted on the App Store yesterday and is a great casual app to add to your collection if for no other reason that to stave off boredom, pick it up next time you find your finger mindlessly wandering through the App Store!
