Spiderweb Software strikes again! Everyone, please welcome Avernum: Escape From the Pit into our wonderful indie world! The fantasy-RPG is making its debut today on both Steam and the iPad. Were you to play it, you would find yourself “banished to the underworld, never to see the light of day again,” for the crime of defying The Empire. From there, you can explore a vast and dangerous world, and decide on one of three responses to your predicament: to seek safety, escape, or revenge on those who cast you into Avernum.

The game contains many classic elements of RPGs everywhere (numerous side quests, artifacts to collect, and character traits to choose from). The Steam version also has another perk—a promotional sale price of $7.99 until April 18^th. (The regular price for the game on any platform is $9.99—not too shabby for a game of this size.) Avernum: Escape From the Pit continues the legacy of the Avernum series, adding another installment to the ever-evolving world.

Speaking of other games from Spiderweb, Avadon: The Black Fortress has recently made its way onto the Android marketplace. Those of you who prefer Androids to Apples can finally have access to the game on your mobile device.
