Developer LittleLoud has recently released Sweatshop HD, an upgraded version from their original browser-based game Sweatshop. Just like the title states, you are in charge of exploiting your own workforce in a struggling clothing factory, in cute art form of course!
In Sweatshop HD you are the Trainee Manager whose responsibility is is hiring, firing, and motivating your underpaid workers to meet the brutal manufacturing demands. The game actually gives you the option of being more ethical to your workers by creating a pleasant work environment, or exploit them for greater earnings. Of course those workers will occasionally die and be generally unhappy.
Simon Parkin, writer and designer of Sweatshop HD stated that the “game’s systems mirror the real-life pressures that exert upon the sweatshop industry, so there’s a serious message behind the silly story. By the end of the game the player will have a deeper understanding of the environment and processes involved in mass-produced clothing.”
