Christmas only comes around once a year. Fruit Ninja, on the other hand, can be played every day of the year! Yes, that’s a lame intro, I’ll give you that, but Halfbrick has deemed this holiday season to be a fitting time to upgrade their breakout hit. Nothing lame about that.
First and most important of all, Fruit Ninja has not been fully upgraded to support the iPhone 5. That means a larger screen presence than ever before, giving you even more real estate to slice and dice. Whether it will make any difference to the game beyond a visual bump is debatable, given that the fruit will jump out at you a little bit sooner than before with the wider display.
There’s also a few new toys to play with. The Cloud Kicker and Sakura Slicer blades will mix your choice of weapon up a little, throwing random clouds and petals around. Of course, if that isn’t enough for you, you’ll have two new backgrounds to play within and plenty of new challenges to keep things ticking over.
The upgrade should be ready to download now on your iPhone 5 or other Apple product such as the new iPod Touch. There’s no confirmation as to whether any of this new content (outside of the iPhone 5 visual update) will be applied to the numerous editions of the game on other platforms just yet, so stay tuned.
If you happened to miss out on Halfbrick’s free games promotion a few days ago don’t fret, the game is still available at the very affordable price of $0.99c.
