The iPhone 5 is barely a week old, but the list of titles that have been updated for its shiny new screen continues to grow more rapidly each day. Though almost every app from your old iPhone will work here, most will have black bars on either side to maintain the older aspect ratio. Where’s the fun in that?
Now, we’ve already mentioned a handful of those updated indie hits just before launch, but here’s another quick round-up of what’s out there for your new hardware upgrade:
Jetpack Joyride continues to be as entertaining as always and it’s latest upgrade to iPhone 5 and iOS 6 means an even smoother riding, jet packing experience than before. There’s a few extra incentives, such as new costumes for Barry, but the difference maker here is the extra reaction time the larger screen affords in order to avoid the oncoming traps. It seems creators Halfbrick Studios still has more content updates to come in the near future, but this update is a welcome one.
Puzzle game SpellTower has more than just a pretty new look to go along with its own iPhone 5 update. You can now play a new mode called ‘iPad Puzzle Mode’, which allows you to play on the same sized puzzle grid as the iPad version, as well as allowing you play against iPad players and sync your iPad game to your new iPhone 5.
Finally, if you haven’t checked out Horn by Phosphor Games Studio as yet, the action adventure has an even bigger game waiting for you with plenty of upgraded tech to suit the hardware update along with some updated checkpoints to improve area progression. Very handy.
There’s more on the way, including the much anticipated Real Racing 3, and you can be sure your Mobile Indie Game Mag team will be right there to cover them all so stay tuned! Or play indie games, whichever comes first.
