The popular Flash game Zombocalypse is coming to iOS devices, and the developers over at Ironzilla are teaming up with Bulletproof Outlaws and Enemy Hideout to go the extra mile to make sure that the iOS version feels more like an actual sequel than just a simple port. The original flash version of Zombocalypse shares more than just a passing resemblance to the hit iOS series Zombieville USA, though plenty of features are being added to make Zombocalypse its own unique beast.
Customizing your character is going to be a large focus for the development team. The player will be able to unlock Call of Duty styled Kill Streaks to help them with their genocidal zombie campaign, along with perks. In addition more weapons and levels will also unlock as you play, giving the player more and more options each time they hop into a game. Things like uzis, mini guns and a “Godhand” will all eventually join your arsenal… I hope the Godhand is exactly as awesome as how I picture it.
The game’s art is being handled by by Jeff Hangartner who you might know from his work on League of Evil 2. All of the flash versions original assets are being re-done to take full advantage of the iPad 3′s retina display while still looking good on lesser devices, like the iPhone 3GS. Thankfully the audio is not getting the short end of the stick here with the Symphony of Specters handling the games soundtrack, which is the same team that did Castle Crasher’s music.
Since this isn’t a port and instead being rebuilt from the ground up Ironzilla has set up a Kickstarter to help fund Zombocalypse. Thankfully with 6 million plays of the Flash version already under their belt, it’s clear that this game has its fans. Hopefully enough of those people are willing to contribute to the game’s $20,000 goal to make this zombie apocalypse a reality.
