It was but a mere two months ago that Seattle-based development studio Dark Tonic reached out to the gaming community for suggestions regarding the name of their upcoming sociopathic smash-em-up centred on the bureaucratic cesspit known officially as Wall Street. Well, as it turns out, the same folks have decided once again to seek public support to help cultivate their creative efforts, this time venturing forth through the ever-popular avenue of Kickstarter.
The game, now named Wall Street Titan, is said to be very close to completion, which Dark Tonic claims to be a surefire sign that financial backers of the project will reap the fruits of their contributions sooner rather than later. The team is looking for $15,000 worth of financial support before the Kickstarter campaign’s May 26th deadline, with donations going towards the acquisition of licenses for the iOS and Android platforms, a slew of extra social networking features and, of course, an extra coat of polish to butter up us pretentious writers.
Wall Street Titan aims to allow players to alleviate their pent-up frustration at the insular misgivings of the Man by letting them loose on Wall Street with the mighty force and power of their own fingertips. Yes, forget the meaty arsenal of firearms and vehicular might of a James Bond flick; Wall Street Titan lets you crush sharp-dressed fatcats and their decadantly-groomed limousines by utilising the touch-screen interface of your portable gaming device. Talk about instant gratification, eh?
And if you had any reason to doubt the credentials of the folks behind the project, hang your head in raw, unadulterated shame because the members of the Dark Tonic team boast such gaming luminaries as Need For Speed: SHIFT, Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland and the Vampire: The Masquerade series. Given their track record with titles involving anti-social anarchy, illegal street racing and blood sucking, then, I’d say they’re more than qualified to deliver a cathartic, politically-charged deathfest like Wall Street Titan.
More information on Wall Street Titan can be found on its official section of the Dark Tonic website, whilst financial contributions will be gladly accepted on the game’s Kickstarter page.
