Here in Australia, the entertaining social game Vigilante: Speak for the Dead has been building up a loyal number of players and supporters since its local App Store release late last year. But don’t fret, those of you around the world won’t have to wait too much longer to get involved.
Vigilante: Speak for the Dead has you creating a character avatar representing your own vigilante, investigating unusual or dangerous events in the area to determine who to defend and who to defeat. You decide which NPC or human player deserves to be hit, whether it’s a simple warning to someone causing a disturbance to a more drastic event like taking out a rival vigilante or public nuisance. What you do determines how the police or the Speak for the Dead (S4D) movement will react. If you do the right thing to those who deserve it, the police may come down hard against you. But target the wrong person or an innocent victim, and the S4D will punish you.
It’s all wrapped up in a social game that encourages interaction, both with NPC’s and with other players. You can become part of a clan and work together to take out rival organisations to grow in power, while levelling up your own character and unlocking new weapons and vehicles to aid in your missions.
According to the team themselves, Vigilante’s international release is just weeks away and will encompass both the iPhone/iPod editions and an upcoming iPad iteration, along with a number of updates and fixes that the team at Divisive Media have been working on based on feedback from Aussie and New Zealand players. The vast number of updates will be making their way into the game proper soon, including new NPC characters and weapons plus much more.
I’ve been playing Vigilante: Speak for the Dead for a while now and will be uploading my final thoughts in time for its international debut, so keep an eye out here at IGM Mobile for that. In the meantime, check out the official Facebook site for all the latest updates as they happen.
